		1 Bluefish action was slow at Jones Inlet in the mid-afternoon. Saw only one cocktail bluefish caught among a half-dozen fishing.	2 Fished Jones Inlet for a couple of hours. Only caught one sea robin on soft plastic bait. Saw only one fisherman walk off the beach with a fish, cocktail blue.	3 Fished for four hours while 10 other anglers were fishing Jones Inlet. Saw absolutely nothing caught by anyone. Fished the bottom of the ebb to the start of the flood tide.	4	5
6	7 Fished Jones Inlet in late morning and picked up nothing during the ebb tide. About half-dozen others trying and picking up nothing. Fished from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. using soft plastic bait.	8 Tried for baitfish - spearing, sand eels, or killies - at Seaman's Neck Park in Seaford. Only ended up netting a few grass shrimp in my drop net.	9	10 Best fluke fishing day of the year. A fisherman using squid strips at Jones Inlet picked up two keeper flukes (18") and two shorts during bottom of ebb tide (11:30 a.m. to 2: p.m.) I picked up one short fluke on soft plastic bait.	11	12
13 Finally saw a winter flounder caught this year. It was caught on the Jones Inlet rocks. About 14 inches. Also First sign of baitfish in Jones Inlet. Saw small pods of baitfish along the shoreline. Not sure if spearing, sandeels, or anchovies. Jones Inlet was also hot with cocktail blues in the morning between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. Saw over a dozen picked up. Also saw a dozen sea robins, and one sandshark in four hours of fishing.	14	15 A throw back day. Caught short fluke 15 inches, a huge skate, and a big sea robin, all on squid. Caught everything on the top of the flood tide.	16 Cocktail bluefish were on a rampage all morning and into the early afternoon at Jones Inlet. Ended up with three bluefish. Earlier in the day, tried for fluke, and caught two shorts on squid.	17 Cocktail bluefish arrived at Jones Inlet at 11:45 a.m. and stayed there for over two hours, spraying baitfish in the surf. Also caught two short fluke on squiad and a sea robin, beside a cocktail. My old fishing line snapped four times while trying to reel in a bluefish. They were up to three pounds.	18	19 Saw cocktail bluefish picked up at Jones Beach Piers and Jones Inlet. No luck trying to net baitfish, but picked up a small spawning size fish, possibly recently spawned snappers, less than half-a-pink size. Tried for winter flounder at Jones Inlet, nothing.
20 Landed two cocktail bluefish, a short fluke, and a sea robin at Jones Inlet in the early afternoon. The bite started when the flood tide started. Saw about a dozen bluefish caught in four hours, and several short fluke.	21	22	23 Jones Inlet is still hot with cocktail bluefish. Fished the ebb for three hours and nabbed eight cocktails, seven on soft plastic one on squid. Also picked up at 17" fluke on squid, largest fluke so far this year.	24 Tried for blue claw crabs at the Lindenhurst Town Dock on Wellwood Avenue. Nothing. Started at 9:20 a.m. and was the only one trying for crabs. Last year, the dock was packed with crabbers. Good news, however, plenty of baitfish in the water. The baitfish still need another month before they could be used for fluking.	25	26 Cocktail bluefish are getting smaller in size. FIshed Jones Inlet for one hour and caught a 1/2 pound lightweight cocktail on soft plastic during ebb tide. .
27 A steady pick of cocktail bluefish, short flukes, and sea robins during the top of the flood at Jones Inlet. The inlet was crowded with close to a dozen anglers fishing the suds.	28 Caught keeper size spearings - 2"- in my killie trap. Dropped the trap at Seaford Town Dock and picked up spearings, only a dozen, and grass shrimp. In another three weeks, the baitfish should be big enough to go fluking with.	29	30 Jones Inlet was elbow to elbow. Among the 17 fishermen working the suds during the afternoon flood time, I saw a few cocktail bluefish, and one sea robin caught.
